On Monday, July 8, Channel 3 Now in Chicago reported that the 18-year-old rapper, born Asyrion Hogan, was struck during a shooting at the intersection of East 89th Street and Langley Avenue on Sunday night. Police said they discovered Hogan on the ground with two gunshot wounds in his chest. The drill rapper was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, but he didn't survive. His label Signal Records posted a tribute to their fallen artist.

Police received reports of two separate shootings involving Scoom and another teenager known as "Lil Will." The two were reportedly together that night when they got into an argument with an unknown man. The shooting happened shortly afterward. Will was found inside an Uber with gunshot wounds to both thighs. He was also taken to University of Chicago Hospital. Police said they found a possible suspect and pursued him, but he got away. As of this report, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named.
