Mustard is asking for prayers to cover his family, friends and other loved ones in blessings on his new song.
On Friday, July 12, the esteemed producer raps for the first time on his latest single "Pray For Me." On the song he produced himself, Mustard recalls all the struggles he and his family have been through over the years from his father's deportation to Jamaica to losing his grandparents to COVID. He also requests prayers for everyone in his family, his 10 Summers label including Ella Mai, his engineer David, and even Kendrick Lamar, who helped give him his first-ever No. 1 song "Not Like Us."
"I can't do this s**t without thankin' that n***a K-Dot, man," he raps. "He came through, swang through with the No.1 right before the album dropped, I ain't even need no rollout/So you gotta pray for him."
Mustard also praises his girlfriend Brittany Stroud, who's pregnant with their first child. He reveals the name of his new baby girl Bebe McFarlane, and asks fans to pray for her. The song is the latest single from his upcoming solo album Faith of a Mustard Seed that's scheduled to drop on July 26. He recently explained why he decided to rap for the first time on his new album during his appearance on Real 92.3's The Cruz Show.
"I think that I've been behind the boards and beats for so long that nobody has ever heard my side of things as far as when it comes to anything — family or friends," Mustard explained. "I think it was just time."
