Man Who Sued JAY-Z Over Paternity Speaks Out After Dropping Lawsuit

The man who claimed JAY-Z is his birth father has dropped his paternity lawsuit against the veteran rapper, but swears his legal battle is not over yet.

Rymir Satterthwaite recently withdrew his legal petition to force the rapper, born Shawn Carter, to take a court-ordered DNA test. According to leaked legal documents, the 32-year-old man claimed Carter never submitted the requested DNA test and asked to withdraw his complaint. Satterhwaite's latest move effectively pauses his years-long legal battle to confirm a biological connection between him and Hov. However, in a video he posted Sunday, July 27, Satterhwaite said his mission is nowhere near over.

"I have not stopped my fight," he said. "I did withdraw my case — it's for a reason y'all. It's not because I'm stopping with it or not going to refile it. It's just a lot going on behind closed doors. That's only one case we withdrew for now."

Satterhwaite has long believed that he's the byproduct of an alleged love affair between his late mother, Wanda, and JAY-Z. Over the past decade, Satterhwaite has alleged that the prominent musician has purposely disregarded his alleged paternity. He also accused JAY-Z of dodging his requests for a DNA test and using his fame to silence him. Carter has yet to speak publicly on the allegations, but his legal team recently denied all the claims.

“The fabricated allegations and claims have been addressed – and rejected — in multiple other courts and [Satterthwaite’s] continued harassment of [Jay-Z] and disregard of those orders has already resulted in a contempt order," Carter's attorney said in a recent filing.

As of this report, a judge has not fully dismissed Satterhwaite's petition. If it's dismissed without prejudice, Satterthwaite may refile his complaint in the future.
